Ratheesh publishes in Chemistry of Materials

Balu's paper, "Metastable Ag–Ln–S Nanocrystals with Ordered Cations and Vacancies Form through Structure-Templating Ag2S Intermediate," was accepted and published at Chemistry of Materials. In it, we employ single-source dithiocarbamate precursors to pre-set tricky rare-earth sulfide bonds, resulting in the formation of ternary silver-rare earth sulfide nanocrystals. The particles adopt a previously unreported crystal structure, which is templated by a crystalline intermediate. The materials are semiconductors and are weakly paramagnetic at low temperature.
